STI Testing & Treatment

Alton Village Medical Centre offers screening annually to sexually active patients under 30 years of age. This is in line with the recommendation from The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are common sexually transmitted infections that are treatable with antibiotics. Screening is done to find and treat infections in people who aren’t showing symptoms, which may reduce complications like pelvic inflammatory disease. These infections are often without symptoms. Talk to your doctor about screening more than once per year if you think you are at increased risk of infection (e.g., you have had a sexually transmitted infection, you have had unprotected sex, sex with multiple partners, or another reason).

At Alton Village Medical Centre, the physicians are WSIB health care provider and happy to assist you with your claim during your work related injury and help you return to work when you are ready.

Well-baby Checks

“Well-baby” or “well-child” visits are a lot like annual exams for adults, but focus on your child’s age and stage of development. They are scheduled on the basis of child age at 1 week, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 and 18 months, and 2-5 years. Once your child is 5 years old, they should see their health care provider every 1 to 2 years until they are 18 years old

Your child will need to be vaccinated at different times in their life to get the best protection against vaccine-preventable diseases. Vaccination schedules are designed to provide protection before children are likely to be exposed to the disease. Childhood vaccines are provided for free and offered at the Alton Village Medical Centre. Your child will usually be vaccinated:

2, 4, 6, 12, 15 & 18 months
4-6 years old
Grade 7
14-16 years
